This rough layout sketch by Kitson maps out the double-page splash from the penultimate issue of the maxiseries that boldly reimagined the origins of the Justice League of America, shifting focus away from DC's Trinity (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) in the team's formation. The cliffhanger assembles a vast roll call of heroes poised to reclaim Earth from alien invaders, including Flash (Barry Allen), Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Black Canary, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Sandman, and many more - ultimately totaling 38 heroes in the final published version. Created in blue and black markers over blue pencil on DC Bristol board with an image area of 13.5" x 10.25". A checklist of DC characters Kitson wanted to include is written in the margins.
