Discover a fascinating piece of Victorian-era photography with this antique stereoview card, also known as a stereograph. This unique 3D view captures a humorous or narrative scene featuring a man in an apron and cap, seated on a wicker basket, intently looking down at a woman or figure emerging from a manhole or grate in the sidewalk. In the background, a child's face peeks from an upstairs window, adding an intriguing layer to the street scene. The detailed imagery, typical of late 19th-century stereoviews, offers a captivating glimpse into historical daily life or staged comedic moments. The reverse side of the cardboard mount features a printed caption: "No followers Allowed.—Love will find out the way." This adds to the whimsical interpretation of the scene, suggesting a clandestine meeting or an unexpected encounter. The card itself is a flat mount, a common format for stereoviews from this period, designed to be viewed through a stereoscope to reveal its full three-dimensional depth. This stereoview is a perfect addition for collectors of antique photography, Victorian curiosities, or those interested in early 3D imaging.Verified Specifications:
