This item includes two cards containing wood chips from Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The Hall was constructed in 1732-1735 by Andrew Hamilton. The wood on the first card comes from a floor beam which supported the floor of the room in which the Declaration of Independence was signed. The wood on the second card contains a chip from the floor beam and a second chip from the Liberty Bell Tower railing. The original floor was removed in 1897 during renovation of the Hall. Samuel Reeves, the Superintendent of Independence Hall from 1892-1908, came into possession of 16 beams of the original floor. The Wolf Art Company of Philadelphia cut one of the beams into chips that were used to make souvenir certificates. The top card is from the Wolf Art Company that owned the beams from 1915-1950\'s. The second card was created in the late 1950\'s by a later owner of the beams whose statement is attached on the rear of the frame. These certificates have been mounted in a black frame on blue silk mat board which measures approximately 12.5\"x10.5\"x1.5\". Also included in this offering is a copy of the Certificate of Guarantee with sworn affidavits of authenticity from the Wolf Art Company, the original of which was signed by Samuel Reeves.
