Heller 1970 Ribbed Glass Ramekin Ovenware Designed by Lella & Massimo Vignelli
Some kitchenware is functional. Some kitchenware is design history. This is the latter.
Manufactured in the United States, this ribbed glass ramekin is from the iconic Heller Ovenware collection, designed in 1970 by Lella and Massimo Vignelli, among the most influential industrial designers of the modern era. Known for their work in architecture, typography, tableware, and product design, the Vignellis approached everyday objects with a strict, architectural modernism that elevated utility into art.
The vertical optic ribbing, the thick architectural glass, and the wide structural rim are all deliberate design choices — creating a piece that moves seamlessly from oven, to table, to storage, to display. This is museum-level industrial design hiding in plain sight.
