A Portrait of the Actor Behind a Famous Family NameHarold Lloyd Jr Actor Portrait Photo by Frederick Hollywood
Harold Lloyd Jr., son of silent-comedy star Harold Lloyd and actress Mildred Davis, pursued his own work as an actor and singer. His film credits include Frankenstein's Daughter. This portrait belongs to that separate career, with Photography by Frederick, Hollywood, recorded on the reverse. The family connection is background; the subject of the sale is the younger Lloyd.
The item offered
One portrait showing a man with a towel around his shoulders. The reverse identifies him in handwriting as Harold Lloyd Jr. The front photographer mark and reverse Frederick stamp are both part of the item. The handwritten name is treated as an identification note, not an established autograph. The photograph has a lower-left corner loss and is undated.
A note about the images and condition
Images show the actual item. Scans and any additional close-up photographs may differ in tone. Please compare the views and read the separate Condition description for the good, the bad and the wear that comes with a life in show business.
From my collection
I've never believed in collecting for it's own sake. Collectors items should be shared and circulated. I grew up among my entertainment heroes of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and am now selling-off some of the treasures I accumulated as a fortunate young man in 1970s Tinsel Town. Location: United States. Member since: Jan 27, 2000.
Condition description
A piece is missing from the lower-left corner, cutting into the border and the very edge of the image. There are small marks, light edge wear and minor corner handling elsewhere, with a small photographer's label near the lower border. The central portrait retains strong contrast and sharp facial detail. It is an appealing photograph with a plainly visible bite out of one corner. Please do not let the clean-looking face distract from that loss; it is the principal condition issue.
