This is a replica of a Roman Centurion helmet (specifically based on the Imperial Gallic or Imperial Italic style helmet, known as a galea).

Key features include: helmet stand

• Transverse Red Crest (Crista Transversa): The prominent red plume mounted side-to-side (transversely) was historically used by Centurions so their soldiers could easily identify them in the chaos of battle.

• Cheek Guards (Paragnathides): Hinged metal plates designed to protect the sides of the face while allowing visibility and movement.

• Neck Guard: The wide, flanged plate extending over the back to protect the neck from overhead strikes.

• Brow Guard & Bosses: The reinforced visor bar across the front and brass decorative rosettes along the trim.
