Grossberger & Kurz Writing Set - 19th. Century ( ca. 1860 ):
$385.00

Beautiful hand made writing set made in Germany between 1855 and 1865.In reasonable good shape with its original box.A bit of history:When G.C. Grossberger and H.C. Kurz opened their pencil factory in Nuremberg in 1855 the competition was already fierce. The Grossberger & Kurz pencil were exported to many European countries and the USA. Eventually they run into financial difficulties in 1864. A year later Gustav Adam Schwanhauser bought the small factory and brought it back on track with investments, foreign business and product innovations including the Stabilo thin-core colored pencil. Many of the larger and well known European pencil companies opened up a franchise in the USA. It appears that Schwan did the same, using the American spelling of Swan on its pencils manufactured in the US.
