Manufactured with a rare and early SENSATIONAL synthetic frame it is
a monumental work of art that everyone comments on and admires
when they see it! It's not just blue, but MID CENTURY ATOMIC COBALT BLUE!This work catches the eye at twenty yards! It's mesmerizingly appealing!
A green & blue vase filled with blue daisies sits on a table. The style
is iconic with bold brushstrokes with a very expressionist
and interpretive palette! Daisies are the symbol of innocence
and purity and a painting of this scale featuring blue daisies
is a statement that it owner is an archetype of pure innocence!
(or at least seems to be!) The Daisy in Nordic legend is also
a fertility symbol for childbirth, motherhood and fresh starts!This particular piece has a bit of mystery surrounding it as well
J. Mastin did a number of works for Art companies and licensed their
stunning and very timely mid century modern styled oil paintings,
but almost no record of him/her exists anywhere before or after
this window of 1956-1961. As a result, these works are all the more
coveted for the air of mystery that surrounds them. The hidden value in these mid century lithographs
also exists in some of the elaborate synthetic polymer frames that
they were sold with - frames that can not be manufactured
today (at any price) because these chemicals and stamping techniques
no longer exist. The polymer industry evolved so fast, the
formulas and machines changed every few years and even from season
to season in the fifties, just like cars each year brought changes.And this frame truly is spectacular! It looks like what a
fine art frame should look like - designed by people who actually
spent time figuring out what would be the most appealing
and complement the art! The frame has been hand antiqued
creating wonderful shadows for the gilded patina. It shows!Excellent vintage condition!
Only very minor wear to the lithograph and frame.
