Faceted Rainbow Garnet – San Pedro Mountain, New Mexico
2.9 ct | 11.0mm x 6.3mm x 4.1mm
This 2.9 ct faceted rainbow garnet from San Pedro Mountain, New Mexico, is a vibrant and expertly cut specimen featuring three dominant, highly colorful faces. Each one bursts with dynamic spectral iridescence, displaying electric flashes of blue, violet, magenta, orange, and green as light plays across the surface. The facets have been meticulously aligned to echo the natural crystallographic geometry of the garnet, optimizing the return of light from the internal lamellar diffraction layers.
San Pedro is one of the only known localities in the world to produce andradite garnets exhibiting this rare optical phenomenon, and fine faceted examples are exceedingly limited. This stone ranks in the upper tier of specimens from the deposit, with a combination of brightness, face orientation, and polish quality that sets it apart. A high-grade candidate for a custom talismanic jewel or a centerpiece in a curated collection of rare optical phenomena.
