This is an Esquire 1943 Twelve Month Pinup GirlsCalendar with drawings from artist Varga and poetic verses by Phil Stack. The verses are found on the top right or left side of each month’s page just abovethe calendar for that particular month. Calendar begins in January and endsin December of 1943. I do not have the original cardboard covering.
These calendars were dedicated to the military duringWWII and were sold in addition to the Esquire magazines. Esquire sent copies ofthese to the troops and they were also purchased in the states by familymembers or friends then mailed to soldiers overseas.
Partial spiral bound calendar pages measureapproximately 12” long x 8 3/8” wide.
Condition is as follows: Small amount of staining, some foxing on the edges of some of the pages and some page corner wear. Octoberhas one 1/16” size triangle out of the paper bottom edge and some smaller areasof loss. There is what looks like a verylight red smear in the area of the triangle which likely came from the flowerson her wrap. Left side end of red plastic binding spiral is turned up. No odorsare present.
