Ericusa sowerbyi (Kiener, 1839)
A beautiful and unusually richly colored example of this impressive Australian volutid, measuring approximately 157 mm × 63.3 mm and weighing 119.29 grams.
This specimen displays particularly attractive deep caramel, reddish-brown and golden coloration, with strong dark zigzag and reticulated markings across the body whorl and spire. The tall spire terminates in a beautiful intact apex with a contrasting cream-colored tip, giving the shell excellent visual presence.
The shell shows an old healed growth interruption/injury on the body whorl, clearly documented in the photographs. The animal continued growing after the event, and the resulting growth mark has become incorporated into the shell. It does not significantly detract from the specimen's overall beauty or display appeal. Natural wear and interior deposits are also present.
