Large jointed seated tabby cat by Winstanley Cat Pottery, North Walsham, Norfolk. Silver-grey tabby with black striping, white chest and paws, pink nose and the pottery’s cathedral glass eyes. Hand-painted and glazed earthenware, so the markings are individual to this cat.
The figure is jointed, with moving limbs, and the head sits on a neck joint. It comes with its little hat and cushion. Signed on the neck on the usual yellow reserve with Jenny Winstanley’s signature. No size number on the base. About 19 inches long. The pottery has confirmed that this cat was made by them around 25 years ago, about 2001.
Winstanley cats are slip-cast, assembled, then hand-painted. The glass eyes were made at the pottery. This one is signed at the neck and has no size number.
Please see the photographs for condition, the joints, the hat and the cushion. Happy to supply further pictures of the signature, base, joints and eyes.
