We are excited to present the second portion of the ore sample collection of Robert (\"Bob\") W. Werner (1937-2023) of Pioche, Nevada! Bob was a highly-accomplished field collector, author, mineral collector and dealer. Bob first began collecting minerals in 1946 at the age of nine, and his father Herbert W. Werner (a geologist), was the former owner of Western Minerals, located first in Lafayette and later in Rialto, California from 1956 to 1982. He originally planned to be a career geologist, and attended the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in the late 1950s, and later studied at the University of California-Riverside and also at Mackay School of Mines at the University of Nevada. He earned a degree Geology (with a minor in Chemistry), along with a degree in Mining Engineering, and Geochemistry. Bob spent his later years cataloguing and building his extensive collections (which included more than just minerals), and even became an online dealer, selling off duplicate material that he inherited from his father.
