Cold Steel Gunsite II folder, model 29GLTH. Half-serrated tanto, black Zytel, lockback. The blade is marked COLD STEEL, VG-1 STAINLESS JAPAN, and the Gunsite bird with GUNSITE. Clip says COLD STEEL.
This is the 4" Gunsite II, not the bigger 5" Gunsite (that one is 29GXTH). Cold Steel made these as the official folder for Gunsite Training Center, Jeff Cooper’s school in Paulden, Arizona. Japan VG-1, blue Special Editions box. They have been out of the catalog for years. It is not a numbered limited run. The Japan stamp is the part worth paying attention to.
Box is with it. Lid says Cold Steel Special Editions and The Gunsite II Folder, Large Premium Zytel Lockback. End label says GUNSITE II FOLDER #29GLTH (Half-Serrated). It was still in the factory bubble wrap when we opened the box for pictures.

Looks unused. It was still in the bubble wrap, and the box matches the knife. No pocket wear on the Zytel or the clip. A couple of close-ups show a light haze on the blade. That reads as storage film, not use. Box has the usual corner rub. Look at the photos. Not a numbered knife.
Description & History
Gunsite is Jeff Cooper’s school in Paulden, Arizona. Cold Steel got the nod to make the school’s folder, and they put the Gunsite bird on the blade. The first one was a 5" tanto lockback. This is the smaller follow-up, the Gunsite II, with a 4" half-serrated tanto and a Zytel handle. Same idea as a Voyager, but marked and sold as the Gunsite knife. Lock is a lockback, not the later Tri-Ad.
Lynn Thompson’s Cold Steel was still having these made in Japan when this one was built. The blade says VG-1 Stainless Japan. A lot of the later folders came out of Taiwan, so the Japan mark is the tell. The blue Special Editions box is the carton they shipped in. It is not a serial-numbered run. Old catalog numbers put the blade at 4", open length about 9 1/8", thickness 1/8", weight about 3.5 to 3.7 oz. Out of production.
