The Effect: What The Audience Experiences
You bring up the subject of celebrity culture and offer a unique psychological test. Bringing a volunteer up on stage, you introduce a large prediction envelope and ask them to sit directly on it. You hand them a deck of cards, each bearing a different celebrity's name, and explain that they will use their "psychic derriere" to find the right one.
With the cards in their own hands, the volunteer makes one completely free choice after another. They toss away half the deck, cut the remaining piles, and eliminate names step by step until only a single celebrity remains. The choices are theirs, and the envelope under them is never switched.
The volunteer stands up and opens the envelope they have been guarding the entire time. Inside is a large photo of the chosen celebrity as a naked baby. Just as the laughter peaks, you turn the photo over to reveal a massive, tabloid-size head shot of the grown-up star for the final kicker.
