We are selling this very rare vintage Jicarilla 1940's outstanding condition with no stains. The design is coyote tracks, beautiful tight weave. It has the perfect patina for an older basket. Has the normal fading of a basket of this age. Very, very tight weft

The Jicarilla Apache live in northern New Mexico, very near the southern Colorado border. They are neighbors with several Navajo communities, and there has always been a great deal of exchange between the two tribes. Jicarilla baskets tend to be large and impressive, and the artists use sumac as weaving material, like the Navajo.
