Austro-Hungarian WWI Bosnian Gendarmerie Enlisted Belt Buckle Brass
Description:
Original Austro-Hungarian Bosnian Gendarmerie enlisted man's belt buckle dating to the World War I era. One-piece die-struck brass construction featuring a shield bearing an armored arm holding a sword beneath a crown.
Measures approximately 2-5/8 inches wide by 2 inches tall.
The reverse retains both original attachment prongs and the belt hook, all intact. The buckle exhibits a heavy uncleaned patina with oxidation, surface discoloration, and areas of verdigris from age and storage. Despite the oxidation, the design remains well defined with good visible detail to the central shield device.
Condition: Good original condition. Shows heavy age patina, oxidation, verdigris, and handling wear consistent with long-term storage. No cracks, repairs, or modifications observed. Both attachment prongs and the belt hook remain present and secure.
A desirable and increasingly scarce Austro-Hungarian Bosnian Gendarmerie buckle for the WWI militaria collector.
