What you’ve got here is a vintage French automobile grille badge (car badge) from the Côte d’Azur (French Riviera)
This is a mid-20th century touring badge representing the Riviera cities:
* Nice
* Menton
* Cannes
* Monaco
The shield combines their heraldry:
* Red eagle (Nice)
* Angel over waves (Menton)
* Fleur-de-lis / palm (Cannes)
* Red & white lozenges (Monaco / Grimaldi)
The bottom banner reads “CÔTE D’AZUR.”
Maker
You’ve got a clear stamp on the right side:
“AUGIS LYON”
That’s Augis Lyon, one of the most respected French makers of:
* Automobile grille badges
* Enamel medallions
* Touring plaques (1930s–1960s)
This is exactly what collectors want to see—authentic, not a reproduction.
* Likely 1930s–1950s
* Mounted on the front grille or bumper bar of a car
* Popular with European touring motorists showing destinations traveled
Your mounting bracket and bolt are typical of period use.
* Strong color and detail
* Riviera / Monaco = high desirability
* Multi-city badge (more interesting than single city)
* Named maker (Augis) = big plus
* Bright enamel = display-worthy
These sell to:
* Car badge collectors
* European travel ephemera collectors
* Monaco/Riviera themed collectors
