Beautiful pair of antique Portman Flow Blue individual butter pats, dating to approximately the late 1800s / 1890s.
Each small dish measures approximately 3 inches across and features a deeply scalloped floral-form edge with an ornate cobalt blue transfer decoration. The characteristic blurred or “flowing” cobalt creates the rich blue-and-white appearance associated with Victorian-era Flow Blue china.
Both pieces are marked PORTMAN in blue on the underside and also have impressed factory marks. The rims appear to retain traces of the original gold decoration, with considerable gold loss consistent with age and use.
Condition: Antique pre-owned condition with expected age-related wear. There is wear/loss to the original gold rim decoration, light discoloration/spotting, surface wear and manufacturing irregularities typical of early china. Please review all photographs closely for exact condition, as they are part of the description.
Approximate size: 3” diameter each.
A lovely matched pair of small Victorian Flow Blue butter pats—great for a Flow Blue collection, antique tableware display, or replacement collection.
