Up for sale is a beautiful and highly collectible late Victorian to Art Nouveau era figural owl desk letter opener, dating back to the turn of the 20th century (circa 1890–1910). This charming piece was likely crafted in Europe (Germany/Austria) and would make an exceptional addition to any antique writing instrument collection or library desk.
Design & Features:
• Figural Owl Pommel: Features a detailed, cast-spelter (zinc alloy) owl head with an authentic aged dark patina. The reverse side is flat, designed to rest cleanly on a desk or pen tray.
• Glass Taxidermy Eyes: Stunner amber-and-black inset glass eyes that brilliantly catch the light.
• Period Construction: Assembled using a traditional threaded internal rod connecting the cast pommel, decorative collar bolster, and tapered blade.

Condition Report:
Good, honest antique condition with a wonderful aged patina consistent with being over 100 years old. The blade and collar show authentic oxidation, plating wear, and surface pitting, giving it great historical character. The glass eyes are completely intact and secure.
