Offered here is a scarce and impressive antique Seth Thomas Fashion No. 6 double-dial calendar clock, dating to approximately 1880. It features the highly desirable black dials with gold lettering and retains its beautiful period appearance.
This exact clock was pictured on the cover of the November/December 2014 NAWCC Bulletin, Issue No. 412. The accompanying article about Fashion Calendar Clocks continued through Issues 413 and 414, providing excellent documented provenance for this particular example.
The current owner has possessed the clock since 1967. According to the owner, its original features include the decorated glass, lettering, finials, hands and black dials. The movement is securely fastened to the frame with screws rather than pins.
The clock is presently running, strikes properly on its gong, and its calendar rollers advance. As expected with an antique clock of this age, it may require careful setup, leveling and adjustment after transportation.
The original black dials have some extremely small, hard white pinpoint specks. These can be noticed when examining the clock closely but are not readily visible from a normal viewing distance. Photographs have been provided so prospective buyers can evaluate its condition honestly.
This clock is located in Columbus, Georgia. Local pickup or personal inspection is strongly preferred because of the clock’s age, size, value and delicate mechanisms. Pickup would eliminate the considerable expense and risk associated with packing and shipping. Any shipping arrangement must be discussed and approved before purchase and would require careful professional packing, full insurance and payment by the buyer.
