A fine antique Chinese stoneware "Ng Gai Pa" (apricot brandy) bottle with an applied Native American woven basket overlay having a geometric motif with birds (ducks?), likely Makah or Nootka in origin. The bottle is around the 1880's and the weaving shortly there after. Typically seen with weaving over glass, this uncommon stoneware bottle is of excellent color and form. The weaving is tight and its design shows the hallmarks of a skilled artisan! The bottle is an extraordinary survivor in excellent condition, most have been discarded or handled without care. The weaving with some patina, toning, scattered muted details, general wear from handling, etc. Please see all photos for condition. A fine piece to add to your Chinese or Native American collection!
