Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible 8-piece lot of authentic antique Japanese export eggshell porcelain. Dating from the late Meiji to early Taisho period (circa 1900–1920s), this gorgeous collection is meticulously hand-painted in a vibrant Kutani palette with classic Satsuma themes.
The artwork features exquisite depictions of Karako (traditional Chinese-style children), which traditionally symbolize joy, innocence, and prosperity. The scenes are framed by intricate iron-red and gold geometric diaper patterns and elevated by raised gold dot moriage accents, giving the exteriors a wonderful tactile texture. The porcelain walls are paper-thin and display beautiful translucency when held to a light source.
