Antique European Hand-Painted Decorative Ceramic Plaque / Wall Plate
Description:
An authentic late 19th to early 20th-century antique round ceramic (faience) plaque featuring a beautiful, classically inspired romantic scene. The artwork is completely hand-painted, displaying fine academic details, rich textures, and gilded accents on the drapery.
The reverse side shows genuine signs of age on the unglazed ceramic body and carries factory markings: a distinct black stamped number "3", a small letter "D" below it, and faint traces of an old blue manufacturer's stamp (mostly faded/illegible due to age). Includes an old wire hanger.
Estimated Period: ca. 1890–1910s (Victorian / Edwardian / Art Nouveau era).
Style / Theme: Academic Art / Mythological / Romantic Salon Scene (in the manner of Hans Zatzka / Paul Thumann).
Material: Unglazed ceramic (faience) base, hand-painted.
Condition Report (Selling AS IS):
The item is in vintage/antique condition with significant age-related wear. Beautiful heavy natural craquelure throughout. No structural cracks to the ceramic body itself. Requires professional stabilization/restoration or can be displayed as a rustic, historical decorative piece. Please inspect all high-resolution macro photos carefully before offerding.
