**Historical Context:**
A wonderful piece of Wisconsin financial history! The Farmers State Bank of Calumet Harbor (located in present-day Pipe, Fond du Lac County, WI) opened its doors in 1914 and operated until January 1931, when it was forced to close overnight following a dramatic run on its deposits during the Great Depression. These heavy metal lockboxes were distributed to local farmers and residents to encourage home savings; depositors would bring the locked box into the branch for the teller to open with a master key.
**Condition Details:**
This antique bank shows a heavy, authentic rustic patina with surface oxidation/rust, pitting, and wear consistent with its age and utilitarian history. The original metal plaque on the front reads "FARMERS STATE BANK / NO. 57 / CALUMET HARBOR, WIS." and remains clear and legible. The heavy top carry handle and coin slot are fully intact. There is no key.
Please review all high-resolution photos carefully to evaluate the exact cosmetic condition before purchasing. Sold exactly as pictured, as-is, with no key. Perfect addition to any Wisconsin history, hometown advertising, or still coin bank collection!
