Wonderful early American heavy-duty padlock marked “EDWARDS LEVER,” “PAT. SEPT. 28. 15,” and “MADE IN U.S.A.”
This substantial old lock features a heavy riveted metal body, protected shackle design, unusual lever-style locking mechanism, and an old period key. It has a fantastic naturally aged industrial appearance with surface wear, oxidation, discoloration and patina consistent with its age and previous use.
The September 28, 1915 marking represents the patent date and should not be interpreted as an exact manufacture date. This appears to be an early 20th-century example.
