Up for sale is an exceptional, investment-grade mid-19th-century Double 1/6 Plate Ambrotype featuring two young children in separate portraits.

• Case Design & Condition: Features the highly collectible 1850s \"Grapes in Oval\" (grape clusters, vines, and scrollwork) thermoplastic Union Case motif. The case is in great condition inside and out with crisp embossed details, robust original brass hinges, a secure clasp, and no corner chips, edge breaks, or cracks. Finding a double layout in this condition is remarkably rare.
• Image Details: Both child portraits are framed in their original ornate, heavily gilded brass mats. The images exhibit authentic, typical age-related backing crazing (fine cracking in the black varnish layer inherent to 1850s glass plates), but the glass panels themselves remain entirely sound, stable, and structurally intact.

A premier, pristine example of early American photography. Please see photos for exact condition details.
