Fantastic, authentic turn-of-the-century gelatin silver photograph mounted on a dark card border, circa 1895–1905. The photograph captures a candid, lively group of men at an outdoor retreat or fraternal lodge outing, uniformly wearing lapel ribbon badges and raising dark beer mugs in a toast.
A wonderful focal point of the image is a young man seated on the left holding a smooth-coated Terrier dog (resembling a Jack Russell or Fox Terrier) on his lap. The men are wearing iconic period headwear, including bowler/derby hats and straw boaters.
The image surface features an incredibly neat historical anomaly: a distinct jagged line running across the upper portion. Please note that the photo surface is completely smooth and intact to the touch—this line is a native darkroom artifact caused by a cracked glass negative plate used during the printing process over 120 years ago! The photo retains its original glossy gelatin silver sheen. Unidentified subjects, blank back.
Perfect for historical collectors, dog lovers, or as a classic statement piece for a bar or tavern display. Shipped securely in an archival sleeve with rigid cardboard backing to prevent bending
