Exceptional pair of antique American Arts & Crafts hand-worked copper bookends, dating to approximately 1910–1930. Each features an elaborate stylized flower executed in repoussé with individually worked leaves and petals surrounded by an exceptionally dense hand-punched stippled background. Flowing geometric bands across the upper portion and angular decoration along the base complete the distinctly Arts & Crafts composition. Constructed from sheet copper with folded horizontal bases and displaying a warm naturally aged copper surface. The workmanship and design strongly reflect the American Arts & Crafts copper tradition associated with Roycroft and other important early 20th-century metalworking shops; however, no maker's mark has been located and these are being offered as unattributed period Arts & Crafts work rather than as Roycroft. A particularly decorative and highly worked matching pair.
