Offered is an original antique cased portrait photograph dating to the mid-19th century (approximately 1855–1865). The portrait features a young gentleman wearing a dark suit, necktie, and hat, housed in its original protective case with a beautifully detailed gilt brass mat and red velvet liner.
The photograph has not been professionally identified and is being sold as a possible daguerreotype or ambrotype. Please examine all photos carefully and determine the photographic process for yourself.
This is a wonderful example of early American Victorian photography and would make an excellent addition to any collection of antique photographs, Civil War-era memorabilia, or photographic antique case included.
