Wonderful antique family photo album containing 96 original black-and-white photographs, primarily appearing to date from the 1920s–1930s.
This is an especially interesting collection of early American vernacular photography, filled with candid snapshots rather than just formal studio portraits. Images include men and women in period clothing, early automobiles, family and friends outdoors, homes and neighborhoods, pets, humorous poses and social gatherings.
One particularly charming photograph shows a group dressed in matching novelty costumes, while others capture people posing with an early automobile and enjoying everyday life. Together, the photographs provide a fascinating glimpse into American life between the World Wars.
The black textured album has “Photographs” in decorative gilt lettering on the front and retains its cord binding. The back is faintly marked HORN / Made in U.S.A. Horn produced American photo albums in this general format.
Good antique condition with expected age and wear. The black album cover shows surface wear, scuffs, spotting and edge wear. Binding remains intact with the original cord-style binding present. Interior black paper pages show age-related wear. The 96 photographs remain mounted throughout the album and show varying degrees of age, fading, handling wear and imperfections.
