Nice collection of 28 (two are the same card, Wapiti) original 1920s Ghirardelli's Milk Chocolate promotional trade cards from the iconic North American Wildlife (E161) series. These highly collectible cards were issued as premium inserts inside packages of Ghirardelli chocolate in the 1920s as an educational and conservation campaign.
Each card measures approximately 2.75" x 5.5" and features a beautifully detailed, vintage color illustration of an animal or bird on the front, along with the classic "Ghirardelli's Milk Chocolate" branding. The reverse side contains educational facts about the featured species.
Included in this lot (27 unique cards):
• Mammals: Coyote, Alaskan Grizzly Bear, Red Fox, Chipmunk, Otter, Mountain Goat, Lynx, Black-Tailed Deer, Badger, Antelope, Bison, and more.
• Birds: Pintail, Ring-Neck Pheasant, Golden Eagle, Woodcock, Cottontail Rabbit, Bob White, Bittern, Canvas-Back / Red Head, Grouse, Crow, Brant, Curlew, and antique condition. The cards exhibit typical vintage aging, including soft corners, edge wear, slight discoloration/browning from age, and minor surface marks. None appear to have the bottom advertising section trimmed off (which is a common flaw with this series). Please review all provided photographs carefully to inspect the exact condition of each card before purchasing.
