Antique 1910 “Daisies Won’t Tell” illustrated novelty postcard featuring an Edwardian woman in profile wearing an oversized yellow daisy-trimmed hat. Flowing ribbons, lettering formed from flowers and an ornamental floral border give this original paper ephemera its distinctive Art Nouveau appeal.An attractive addition to collections of artist-signed postcards, Edwardian fashion illustrations, floral greetings and early-1900s postal history.Features/Details:
• Artist: Cobb Shinn (1887–1951), an Indiana illustrator known for early-20th-century novelty, humorous and illustrated postcards.
• Front bears a printed “Cobb Shinn 1910” signature.
• Reverse marked “X L Series” and “Copyrighted 1910 by C. W. P.”
• C.W.P. is the printed copyright/publisher imprint; its full company name has not been confirmed.
• Circa 1910–1912: artwork and copyright dated 1910, postally used in 1912. Exact printing year unknown.
• Circular Oregon postmark with readable year 1912. The stamp obscures the town and complete mailing date.
• Original cancelled green U.S. one-cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp remains attached.
• Addressed to Mrs. C. A. Parsons in Camas, Washington.
• Handwritten family correspondence, apparently signed Freda S., tells her aunt that her mother is feeling unwell, discusses postponing a visit until June 15 because of her father’s payment timing, and asks about Charly visiting. Some handwriting is uncertain.
• Printed paper cardstock with divided back.
• Colors include yellow/gold, gray, black, green, purple/burgundy and cream, with rosy tones in the woman’s portrait.Measurements:
Approximately 5.5” tall × 3.5” wide; standard postcard size.🔎 Condition:
Antique, postally used condition with age toning, scattered small marks, rounded/rubbed corners, edge wear and visible creasing. Artwork retains appealing color and displays well. Original handwriting, stamp and cancellation remain present. Includes a protective sleeve.
