Description: Original 1800’s tobacco twist and probably Civil War era as came with some Civil War items. It measures 8 ¼” long and is in excellent dried condition. The pocket bible it came with has Civil War identification from Company E, 36th Regiment. Also listing a syringe that came with them. Sold separately.

The preparation method involves carefully selecting mature tobacco leaves, which are air-cured until dark and pliable, then skillfully twisted into compact ropes and often sweetened with natural maple syrup using traditional methods.The tobacco twist was particularly significant during the 18th and 19th centuries as both a practical and ceremonial item. Its compact form made it ideal for long-distance trade and storage, while its versatility allowed for multiple uses - from pipe smoking to ceremonial purposes. In Native American traditions, tobacco has long held profound spiritual significance, being used in prayer bundles, medicine pouches, and sacred ceremonies.
