Artifact Highlights & Details
• The Autograph: A highly desirable clipped closing signature, signed boldly in ink by Hamilton as "Alex Hamilton". The slip retains the elegant period formal salutation, "Your obedient Servant," alongside the crisp, distinct printing of his title: "Secretary of the Treasury".
• The Era: Dating between 1789 and 1795, this signature comes directly from the crucial years when Hamilton was actively constructing the United States Mint, creating the national bank, and stabilizing the fragile post-Revolution economy.
• The Portrait: A beautiful nineteenth-century stipple engraving. The lower margin reads: "Engraved by E. Prud'homme from the Original Miniature by Arch. Robertson," showcasing Hamilton in sharp, elegant detail. It is further accented with a printed facsimile of his full signature directly below the likeness.
• Condition & Presentation: The clipped signature displays gorgeous natural toning and character consistent with late 18th-century rag paper. The entire ensemble is beautifully housed in a pristine white multi-aperture gallery matting, ready for prominent tabletop display or wall mounting.
