History of Yarara Knives: "YARARÁ" was born in 1990 (founded by Mr. Carlos Juarez and continued today by his sons) with the creation of its first and legendary model "El Comando" (= The Commando), so called because its first destination was the CiaCdo(s) 601 Ejercito Argentino (= Argentine Army 601 Commando Coy), responding to the operational needs required in a timely manner.
Made by Yarará, in the Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina.New in the box, with guarantee card and instructions manual (in spanish, ask for a translation). Developed and built for the "BISA", "Batallón de Seguridad del Estado Mayor General de la Armada Argentina", Security Battalion of the General Staff of the Argentine Navy.
On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary (1971-2021) of the creation of the BISA, Security Battalion of the General Staff of the Navy, the Yarara factory designed this model jointly with the Argentine Navy, combining the ergonomic handle already used in other models (DOEM, GLOTON, UMAR, SPECIAL FORCES, etc.) with a classic Wharncliffe type blade.
Full tang knife with wharncliffe blade. It has a plain main edge and a Spyderco type serration near the ricazzo for safety belt, or ropes or complementary use.
On the back it has a large angled robust glass breaker type pommel with lanyard hole and square serrations to secure the fingers' grip.
It is laser engraved on the right ricazzo:YARARA brand name and logoINDUSTRIA ARGENTINA (Made in Argentina)And on the blade:BISAAC CROMO VANADIO ALEMAN (German Chrome-Vanadium Steel)
The handguard has a thumb rest and square serrations on the spine to secure the thumb's grip, and a hole for survival use in lower part.
The scales are made of coyote Santoprene (polymer) of USA origin, with non-slip texture fixed with three torch screws to the tang.
The sheath is made of black Kydex, both sides secured with six torch screws, it has two eyelets at the tip that allow to pass a leg tie rope, a large black cordura belt loop that can be opened at back due to a Velcro closure (you can pass the belt or open the loop), and has a hilt strap secured to the loop with a steel rivet that close with Velcro and has an easy-to-grasp black plastic tip.
