Lot of 3 antique black-and-white photographic glass magic lantern slides from the American Colony Photo Department's "23rd Psalm" series, Jerusalem, Palestine.
The American Colony produced a set of thirteen slides of shepherd life illustrating the Twenty-Third Psalm ("The Lord is my shepherd"). Included here: No. 276 "23rd Psalm I" (shepherd with his flock at the water), No. 280 "23rd Psalm V" (shepherds with sheep at a rocky stream), and No. 286 "23rd Psalm XI" (shepherds watering sheep at a stone trough with the valley beyond). Each is hand-numbered in ink on the top mat.
The American Colony Photo Department (Jerusalem, founded 1897) sold these slides in sets through their stores; their glass negatives are held by the Library of Congress as the Matson Collection.
Standard 3-1/4 x 4 inch format with original tan paper mats and black binding. Glass is intact on all three; the mats show light edge wear from age.
Please review all photos before buying.
Thanks!
