These buttons are sourced directly from the private, lifelong collection of a 60-year veteran antique dealer. This exceptional grouping has been carefully curated and stored together for decades, offering an absolute guarantee of historical authenticity that is highly valued by serious collectors.
This set features highly collectible manufacturer backmarks and structural variants, including The Waterbury Button Company's signature "starry ring" construction. Perfect for historical uniform restoration, military displays, or serious Civil War collectors.Detailed Lot Contents & Inventory:
(2) U.S. Army General Service Eagle Buttons: Late Indian Wars / Spanish-American War era (1893–1902). Backmarked "HORSTMANN. PHILADELPHIA". Features the standard lined shield eagle design.
(2) Large GAR Coat Buttons (Starred Rims): Features the iconic Waterbury tinned iron back with a ring of raised stars stamped around the shank loop (1880s–1890s).
(1) Large GAR Coat Button: Backmarked "HORSTMANN".
(1) Small GAR Cuff/Pocket Button: Backmarked "HORSTMANN".(This is the damaged button)
(1) Small GAR Cuff/Pocket Button: Rare regional backmark variant by "J.H. WILSON / PHILA".
(2) Small GAR Cuff/Pocket Buttons: Stamped with official "WATERBURY" backmarks.

these buttons are in very good condition. Being old buttons some may be chipped or
show other normal wear and tear.I have many upcoming buttons to list, so I thought it would be nice to share how I came
to have them all.They have been in storage at my parents house for the last 25+ years, which is
when they stopped hauling these two large totes to antique shows. They acquired the
buttons 25-50+ years ago from estate sales, private sales, sales ect. Some of these
buttons are antique, while others are vintage from the 50's and earlier, a few could
be a little later.For the last 60+ years(I stand corrected) they bought, sold and refinished antiques of all kinds. I have
one of the totes and the other one remains at my fathers home. **Both totes are now atmy home.**
