Three stereoviews by Newburyport, Massachusettsphotographer R.E. Mosely that are titled on back: (1) “Members of the B.A.,Aug. 1863”; (2) “Members of the B.A., Aug. 1863”; and (3) “Members of the B.A., 1865.” The “B.A.” was the “Bluff Association”appently in reference to a bluff at Newburyport that overlooks the ocean. This is a view of the BA at a cottage. Mosely took a series of views of the BluffAssociation that is actually mentioned in the Newburyport Herald on September8, 1863. This is one of the viewsmentioned in that article. As for theBluff Association itself and what its purpose was, I’m at a bit of a loss. It was likely an excuse for men to gettogether, similar to Ralph Kramden’s and Ed Norton’s Raccoon Lodge.
