The year is 2000. We survived Y2K. Britney Spears is everywhere. Everyone's computer still works. And apparently the next logical advancement in civilization is a string of Christmas lights that can tell you a bedtime story.
Fine. I'm listening.
This magnificent holiday beast is Trendmasters' The Night Before Christmas Storytelling Light Strand, still NEW in its original package from 2000. And by "package," I mean an enormous fake Christmas book that opens to reveal Santa's entire tiny plastic theatrical company waiting inside.
The strand features a whole parade of Christmas characters, with Santa planted directly in the middle like the executive producer of this operation. According to the box, you clap your hands to hear Santa tell "'Twas The Night Before Christmas," because apparently Alexa's grandfather was a string of Christmas lights.
But Santa wasn't satisfied with storytelling.
He also came prepared with Joy to the World, O Little Town of Bethlehem and Silent Night, because this man has one evening a year to work and somehow still found time to record an album.
The set remains new and unused in the original packaging. The outer box/book shows some storage and age-related wear as pictured, which feels reasonable considering it has been sitting around since people were using AOL Instant Messenger to ask their friends if they had plans Friday night.
There is a TRY ME feature on the package. It does not currently work.
This is because the original batteries are from the year 2000.
They have served their country.
