Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota USA, this iconic pair of boxed circa 1970 Pillsbury Playthings includes the adorable Poppin’ Fresh Doughboy and his sidekick Poppy, still sealed in their original boxes, complete with their unique stands.
🩵These soft vinyl dolls are in excellent “fresh” condition, New In Box (NIB) in their original plastic-wrapped blue cardboard boxes. They are still securely nestled in cardboard cutouts to hold their heads in place and each standing on his or her personalized stand which display their name. I found no unfortunate issues with these Pillsbury collectibles, but please note there are remnants of price stickers on the top of each box.
🩵 Poppin’ Fresh and Poppy, their stands and packaging appear to me to be absolutely mint. These iconic characters have their original white coloration with light blue detailing. I imagine their vinyl “skin” is as soft to touch as it was over 50 years ago. No darkening or yellowing of the vinyl was found, so I suspect this set has been kept out of the light and harsh conditions.
🩵Poppin’ Fresh measures approximately 7 inches tall and Poppy measures approximately 5 inches tall. Stands are add another approximately 3/4 inch to their heights. Their heads and bodies are made in two parts, most likely designed not just for easy construction, but to allow their heads to be swiveled for minimal posing. I would, without hesitation, classify these over 50 year old Pillsbury Playthings characters to be in 100% tip top excellent condition. Once you see them in person, I believe you’ll agree.
