2.51 LBS Celestobarite, Orange Barite, (4) Uncut and Faced Rough Rock Pieces
From the internet:Celestobarite (also known as celestobaryte or barian celestine) is a rare lapidary material consisting of an intimate intergrowth of barite (BaSO₄) and celestite (SrSO₄). It originates primarily from historic deposits in Devon, England. With a Mohs hardness of 3-3.5, the stone exhibits distinctive salmon-pink to vibrant orange hues with fibrous white-to-gray banding and sporadic dark inclusions. Opaque and well-suited to cabochon cutting, it takes a good polish to highlight its warm, layered patterns.
As with all grinding and polishing of lapidary materials, caution must be exercised to protect against dust inhalation—always use proper respiratory protection, wet methods, and adequate ventilation.
