J. R. R. TolkienThe Lord of the Rings1978 Fellowship Membership KitIncludes Original Mailing Envelopefrom Tolkien Enterprises!!RAREExcellent Condition!!
Item DescriptionThis is from my personal membership back in 1980 as a kid! I first read The Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit in 1975, was an immediate devotee, even was able to see the Bakshi movie in the theater the day it opened in 1978! I was not old enough to drive, but thankfully my Dad took me to see it. I enrolled in "The Fellowship" Mail-in Club and this is what I still have left from my membership. I originally bought lots of items (t-shirts, action figures, buttons, belt buckels, etc) but many of those items did not survive the years because I used and enjoyed them :)But through all of the years, I did keep these original documents from my membership, and that is what I am offering here.
Includes:Original Mailing EnvelopeMembership Welcome Letter *** (see note below)Membership CertificateFrodo Lives bumper sticker2 Small Lord of the Rings stickers3 Coloring Pages (already colored by me)Movie Picture Book advertisement18-page Promotion BookletCatalogueThe Fellowship Large Envelope (this one is a bit torn and tattered at the top)
*** interesting note about the Welcome Letter - it mentions that the "writers are hard at work on the script for "The Lord of the Rings" Part 2, scheduled for release during the spring or summer of 1981"I cannot begin to tell you how that comment tortured me for many years after, as I kept watching, waiting and hoping for any news of the second movie!!!Ahhhhh, if only that would have been true!!! I still hope someone will complete this in the same format as the original one day!
Very RARE to find all of these original documents still together!!
