Original Los Angeles Times newspaper dated Saturday Morning, November 23, 1963, documenting the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas the previous day.
The dramatic front page carries the enormous headline:
“KENNEDY ASSASSINATED”
with the accompanying subheadline:
“Sniper’s Bullet Kills President in Dallas; Johnson Takes Oath”
This is a particularly desirable California / Los Angeles issue because the Los Angeles Times devoted substantial local and national coverage to Kennedy, including his political history in Southern California and his close connections to Los Angeles.
The front page includes the now-historic photograph of President and Mrs. Kennedy in the Dallas motorcade shortly before the shooting, along with extensive reporting on the assassination and the transition of power to Lyndon B. Johnson.
