Vintage Electrical Utility & Union Booklet Lot
1961 Pacific Power & Light / PGE Rules Manual & 1978 IBEW Constitution
Overview
For sale is a vintage lot of two (2) historical pocket manuals detailing regional electrical utility practices and IBEW organized union labor governance in the 1960s and 1970s.
The first item is a regional Utility Rules and Regulations pocket handbook distributed jointly by Pacific Power & Light Company and Portland General Electric Co. (PGE), published on April 1, 1961. The textured maroon cover highlights early mid-century utility line character art.
The second item is a clean copy of the Constitution of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), originating from their 31st national convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey (issued October 1978).
Please evaluate the cosmetic condition based on the high-resolution photographs provided. You will receive the exact two booklets pictured.
Family Backstory & Provenance
These booklets personally belonged to my late father, a retired IBEW union electrician who dedicated over 40 years to the electrical trades. Throughout his career, spanning from the 1960s into the 2000s, he was a proud member of IBEW Local 48 based out of Portland, Oregon, working as a journeyman electrician and later serving as an electrical inspector for the City of Portland.
While he was never employed directly by the local power utility companies, his inspection duties and trade work required routine coordination with them, which is why he kept these reference documents in his personal collection. Having recently uncovered them while organizing his estate, I would love to pass these pieces of Pacific Northwest industrial history along to a fellow electrician, union brother, or trade historian.
