Original Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad (R.F.&P. R.R.) diazo track and signal plan booklet, consisting of whiteprint / blue-line engineering drawings used by the railroad’s Signals & Communications Department.
These are original diazo engineering prints, not blueprints and not reproductions. Diazo prints were the standard working-format for railroad signal and track plans from the 1930s–1960s, favored for their speed of production and ease of revision. The cream-colored paper with dark line work seen here is characteristic of the diazo process.
Interior sheets document interlockings, switch boxes, and signal layouts, with a strong focus on Potomac Yard, Virginia, including NAX Interlocking and related control points. Plans show running tracks, signal tracks, electrified track, circuit controllers, lamps, indicators, and control cases, with legends, ICC numbers, approval signatures, and revision blocks present throughout. Several sheets note remote control from AF or RO Tower.
