First of all, I couldn't find a way to “accept returns” unless I changed all my listings to accept returns. On this piece, I will accept a return within 14 days. Shoot me a message and we'll work it out as long as the picture is in the exact same condition as it was when you got it.
I would ask that you take a picture with the envelope on the day you get it and make I can see a timestamp of when the picture was taken.
OK- description as accurately and ambiguously as I know how…..
The photo is a vintage 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers team photo featuring iconic players such as Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, and Duke Snider.
I probably should’ve sent this to PSA 20 years ago to get it authenticated but I was so busy slabbing Baseball cards that I never got onto it.
This rare collectible absolutely appears to be an original photograph showcasing the legendary baseball team in a landscape orientation.
Look at the disclaimer stamped on the back of the photograph
“Notice, this picture is not to be used directly or indirectly with commercial advertising or endorsement and below that is the stamp Brooklyn National League baseball club INC.”
That is consistent with a team photograph taken by an official or authorized Photographer.
In this case, this very well might have been taken by team Photographer, Barry Stein.
A photo like this sold at an sale in 2024, I will discuss this in a couple of paragraphs.
The typed names on the back is on old faded paper, it appears there was another paper glued to the bottom of which unfortunately is missing
By the way, I am throwing in the other Dodgers photo of the players holding the baseball bats. The back of that photograph is stamped. This paper is manufactured by Kodak, which is consistent with Kodak printing from the early 70s to the 1980s and it’s evident by the thickness, density and quality of the paper. I’m pretty sure the athletes are Duke, Jackie, Gill, Pee-wee, & Roy.
This is a very rare scarce and unique item from one of the most iconic baseball teams ever.
I looked around and found another photo taken of this team but from a different angle. I hunted around just to research that this is the 1949 baseball team so I’ll leave it at 99.9% positive that this is the 1949 team that went to the World Series and lost to the Yankees.
That was the first ever World Series that finished a game under the lights.
The Yankees Won.
In the summer 2024, Robert Edward sales (REA) sold a PSA/DNA Type I original of exactly this type of photo for $390:
• Classic team pose of the 1949 National League champions taken by noted Dodgers photographer Barney Stein.
• ~10¼ × 8 inches.
• Includes Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, and ~33 total members.
• “Brooklyn National League Baseball Club” credit stamp + original paper news caption on the reverse.
