They are included as historical keepsakes and are not represented as original.Historical BackgroundIn 1947, Kix offered a Lone Ranger Atomic Bomb Ring in exchange for one Kix box top and 15¢. The ring contained a spinthariscope. When the red base (which also served as a secret message compartment) was removed and the viewer’s eyes were allowed to adapt to darkness, the wearer could observe tiny flashes of light produced by alpha particles from polonium striking a zinc sulfide screen.ProvenanceShortly after I listed this ring, I was contacted by a family member of the original owner. They confirmed that the mailing box, General Mills return address, postmark, tissue paper, and original instruction card all belong to this ring.
