Up for sale is an original vintage 1946 school program and administrative directory from Mount Vernon Junior High School in Los Angeles, California.
Dated April 9, 1946, this multi-panel program details a specialized production of the Dutch-themed musical operetta \"The Wedding Shoes\" by Beatrice Humiston McNeil. The front cover showcases a beautiful mid-century graphic of a traditional Dutch couple standing before a windmill.
The interior outlines the complete student cast, orchestra members, and committee chairs. It also documents a unique civic collaboration between the school\'s PTA and the historic Acacia Lodge No. 438 F. & A. M. (Freemasons) for Public Schools\' Week. The left panel serves as a fantastic historical record, listing the entire school faculty and administration of the era.
Notable Signatures/Credits:- Dr. Hazelle S. Moore (Principal), a nationally celebrated author and pioneer in mid-century junior high student guidance.- Lorain N. Trenham (PTA President), a well-documented Southern California civic figure.
Rarity Notes: Localized 1940s school play programs from the Los Angeles Unified School District have a low survival rate, as most were immediately discarded. This piece features superb crossover value for collectors tracking Los Angeles educational history, Masonic Lodge memorabilia, or vintage mid-century graphic design.
Condition: Complete multi-panel folding program. The paper remains crisp with sharp typography and vivid front cover illustration inks. Shows only minor edge wear and faint handling folds appropriate for its 80-year age. Please consult the high-resolution scans for an exact look at condition. Sold as-is.
