Original wartime 1943 edition of Target: Germany — The Army Air Forces’ Official Story of the VIII Bomber Command’s First Year Over Europe.
Published by Simon and Schuster, New York, in cooperation with LIFE Magazine in 1943, while World War II was still being fought.
This historic volume documents the VIII Bomber Command during its first year of combat operations over Europe. The VIII Bomber Command became the heavy-bomber component of the U.S. Eighth Air Force and played a major role in the American daylight strategic bombing campaign against Germany and occupied Europe.
This is a genuine wartime publication rather than a history written decades later, giving collectors an account of the American bombing campaign published while the air war was actually taking place.
Attractive blue cloth hardcover with gold U.S. Army Air Forces insignia on the front.
An excellent collectible for an Eighth Air Force, USAAF, B-17, B-24, WWII aviation, European Theater, military history, or wartime publication collection.
Original 1943 WWII publication — not a modern reproduction.
